You do not have to make any preparations to take your family or friends to the skate park. Protective gear is available on-site, as are liability releases. All you need to do is show up!

For the Art Lovers

Visit the IX Art Park

IX Art Park, located in downtown Charlottesville, is an indoor and outdoor art hotspot. Art shows and opportunities for artists of all ages are available. You’ll be sure to enjoy The Looking Glass, Virginia’s first immersive art experience, which includes a larger-than-life interactive enchanted forest and kaleidoscopic cave while they aren’t producing art. The IX Art Park hosts many seminars, programs, and camps for young ones interested in art and helps keep their formative, creative brains busy! It is not called the Art Park for no reason – it is the ideal location for all kinds of creativity.

Charlottesville Arts Festival

Hosted at the IX Art Park, the festival welcomes artists and performers of the fine arts in a celebration of the talent and creativity found in the community, as well as highlighting its diversity. The festival runs for an entire weekend and features demos, art workshops, and a mural unveiling.

Parks & Recreation

Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens have previously been selected as the world’s Most Beautiful Theme Park by the National Amusement Park Historical Association years! Little ones will love walking with Sesame Street characters in the Sesame Street Forest of Fun. They may soar through the sky on Prince Elmo’s Spire, twist and churn on Oscar’s Whirly Worms, or splash across the water on Bert & Ernie’s Loch Adventure. The Griffon, a floorless plunge coaster that climbs 205 feet and zooms 90 degrees straight down at more than 70 mph, is likely to excite older children. As will spending time in weightlessness aboard Apollo’s Chariot.

Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Park

Are your children little nature enthusiasts? Take them to the Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Preserve Park. There they can get their hands dirty in the great outdoors. This Park, which borders the Shenandoah National Park, has multi-service paths that weave through a landscape teeming with plant and animal life. The terrain, however gorgeous with mountain views, streams, and fern dells, is rather steep, so hikers and mountain bikers both will require strong legs. The trail loops are well worth the effort, with visitor kiosks overlooking Virginia’s beautiful terrain. The park’s entrance is off Blackwell’s Hollow Road in Albemarle County’s northern corner.

Throwback Movies

If you or anyone you know is a Blue’s Brothers fan, then this one is for you. The cult classic will be on show at The Paramount and you are free to bring the sunglasses out for this one.

Even better is that you can come with your own food. For drinks, the tasting room has a large range of wines and non-alcoholic beverages on offer.
