With COVID-19, working from home has become more prevalent, and so has the desire to maintain a healthier lifestyle while working. One way to stay healthier is to use a stand up desk in your home office rather than the typical sitting desk.
Over the years, doctors have blamed heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and other conditions from a sedentary lifestyle. A stand up desk requires you to stand while you work, and many of these desks offer features such a treadmills.
What to Consider When Buying a Stand Up Desk
There are many things to consider when purchasing a stand up desk for home. Do you plan on working at it from a stand up position only or do you need to change its height often? Are you going to use a treadmill, balance board, or other exercise device, or simply stand? How sturdy will be the stand up desk? A rickety or wobbly desk is definitely a hazard. Or maybe you have a sitting desk and you simply want to convert it to a stand up one. A good warranty is important too, especially if you have a motorized desk.
Motorize adjustments offer setting your height effortlessly, but manual adjustment is good for the budget conscious who plan on simply setting the height and not changing it. Weight limit is important too, especially if you have a heavy workstation, loads of books, or other things that might need consideration. Options may also be important to you, such as monitor arms, organizers, colors, and styling, which you may want to take into consideration. Price is also a factor.
